Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Stores Assistant to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, assisting with materials handling, and supporting shipping and receiving operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic environment, contributing to the efficient operation of our warehouse facilities. Previous experience in warehouse management systems, forklift operation, and mechanical knowledge will be advantageous.
Duties
* Assist with the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring accurate stock levels are maintained
* Operate forklift trucks safely to load and unload materials, adhering to health and safety regulations
* Manage inventory using warehouse management systems, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates
* Handle materials efficiently, including heavy lifting and organisation within the warehouse
* Support shipping and receiving activities by preparing orders for dispatch and verifying incoming deliveries
* Assist with general warehouse maintenance, including cleaning and organisation of storage areas
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks
* Support with basic mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment as required
Qualifications
* Proven experience in warehouse operations preferred but not essential
* Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable
* Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is advantageous
* Strong materials handling skills, including heavy lifting and safe manual handling techniques
* Mechanical knowledge or experience in construction environments is a plus
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
* Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
* Physical fitness to handle manual tasks such as load & unload activities throughout the shift
