Your new companyHays are recruiting for Teaching Assistants to provide long-term, full-time support within an SEMH school based in Newcastle under Lyme. The school has approximately 120 students aged between 11-19 and 90 staff. They take a holistic and nurturing approach to education and offer facilities such as sensory rooms and a pool for hydrotherapy. Your new role
* You will be providing support to children who have a background of trauma which has altered the way they process information.
* You will work closely with the teaching staff to provide targeted support and guidance for students.
* 1:1 or group work with students who require additional support
* Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
* Leading group work
* Helping the class teacher with pupil observations
What you'll need to succeed
* previous experience working with students in a SEMH environment is desirable but not essential.
* excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with both students and colleagues.
* patience and empathy when dealing with students facing challenging circumstances.
* You'll need to be available for a full time role 5 days per week and available to book long term (minimum of 1 half term)
