Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 2 years
This is an opportunity to lead an exciting and innovative department alongside the current Senior Sister. You will be expected to have oversight of the clinical areas, lead and manage the team, whilst promoting a safe environment for our patients.
Coronary Care is an 8-bedded unit located next to the Cath Labs and is the hub of our PPCI service. The unit delivers care to a range of acute and chronic conditions and can provide circulatory support via IABP, temporary pacing, CPAP for acute pulmonary oedema, as well as other acute treatments. Kilverstone Ward is a 37-bed ward caring for various cardiac conditions, both acute and chronic.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the clinical standards across both areas, therefore significant clinical experience in Cardiology is required. You will act as a role model to promote safe care and support the team to ensure adherence to Trust Standards while maintaining safe staffing levels. Responsibilities include recruitment, retention, budget oversight, and fostering strong links with the Cardiology Department and wider multidisciplinary team.
This role involves job sharing, so flexibility, excellent communication, and organization skills are essential.

Job responsibilities
* Provide clinical and managerial leadership and support to nursing and clerical staff
* Support and guide staff and act as a resource at trust level as needed
* Assist with staffing and skills deployment across the directorate
* Manage ward/department budgets within guidelines
* Implement evidence-based procedures, policies, protocols, and guidelines
* Collaborate with the team, Senior Nurse/Service Manager, and Matron to promote good relationships within the multidisciplinary team
* Manage staff performance through appraisals and personal development plans
* Monitor and manage staff sickness and absence
* Ensure staff training and mandatory updates are completed, including COSHH, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Resuscitation, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, and Occupational Health
* Address performance issues following Trust procedures
* Contribute to policy development within the Trust strategy
* Represent the Trust professionally and publicly
