About the Role:

New vacancy for an experienced and passionate Advanced Social Worker to join theLearning & Disabilities Team in Swindon.This is a key role where you will provide expert social work practice, deliver a high standard of assessment, and support adults with learning disabilities to achieve better outcomes. Working with individuals, their families, and a range of professionals, you will ensure person-centred support plans are developed and implemented, promoting independence and safeguarding wellbeing. As an experienced and senior member of the team, you will also provide guidance and support to junior social workers and contribute to team development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive, person-centred assessments of adults with learning disabilities, taking into account their physical, mental, and emotional needs.
* Develop and implement effective care plans that are responsive to the needs and aspirations of individuals, ensuring they can live as independently as possible.
* Apply a strengths-based approach, ensuring that individuals’ voices are heard and their preferences are taken into consideration when planning support.
* Lead complex casework and manage a caseload of individuals with complex needs, ensuring that all statutory duties are met and best practice is followed.
* Identify and manage safeguarding risks in line with local safeguarding adults’ protocols and procedures.
* Work proactively to mitigate risks, ensuring that safeguarding interventions are timely, appropriate, and well-documented.
* Provide expert advice and guidance on safeguarding concerns, including taking responsibility for Section 42 (Care Act) enquiries and managing complex investigations.
* Provide expert social work practice, particularly in complex cases, and offer guidance and supervision to more junior social workers.
* Offer high-quality professional advice on a range of issues relating to learning disabilities, including legal, ethical, and policy considerations.
* Mentor and support colleagues to ensure the highest standards of social work practice within the team.
* Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines, including health, education, and housing, to ensure individuals receive a holistic and integrated service.
* Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and case conferences to ensure coordinated service delivery.
* Advocate for individuals with learning disabilities, ensuring they are represented in decision-making processes.

Requirements of the role:

* Qualified Social Worker, Degree in relevant profession with evidence of post qualifying learning and development.
* Registered with Social Work England
* Significant post-qualification experience, ideally in adult social work or within the learning disabilities sector.
* Experience of managing complex cases and undertaking statutory assessments in accordance with relevant legislation.
* Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and advocate for adults with learning disabilities.
* Detailed knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation.
* Advanced skills in assessment, planning, and risk management.
* Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports.
* Ability to mentor and supervise junior social workers, providing support and guidance to develop their skills.
