Overview
The Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS) in Powys is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate and professional Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our clinical team.
Responsibilities
* The five core functions of LPMHSS include the provision of comprehensive assessment of mental health and wellbeing.
* The delivery of brief, outcome-focused and evidence-based psychosocial interventions.
* The provision of guidance, advice and signposting to service users and carers.
* The provision of guidance and advice to primary care providers.
* Referral onto secondary services where appropriate which might improve or prevent a deterioration in the individuals mental health.
* The post is integrated into a multidisciplinary team comprising Mental Health Nurses, Accredited Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychological Therapists to deliver high quality, timely, safe, person-centred, equitable, holistic and effective psychosocial assessments and interventions.
* The service is seeking a professional with additional training and experience in evidence-based psychosocial interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Therapy (incl. EMDR and Trauma focused CBT), and Brief Solution Focused Therapy and/or with an interest and commitment to undertake further training in psychological approaches.
Main duties of the job
* Enhance the psychological care of clients within the Local Primary Mental Health Support Service, providing Part 1 mental health assessments, formulation, and evidence-based interventions to people experiencing mild-moderate and severe enduring and stable mental health issues.
* Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, brief psychological interventions and provide consultation to primary care and other professionals across health and social care.
* Working collaboratively, support individuals with mild to moderate and stable severe mental health needs, promoting recovery and facilitating access to appropriate care pathways.
* Assist in clinically related administration, such as supporting LPMHSS screening and allocation processes, and contributing to the development and implementation of audits/service evaluations/research projects, teaching and project work.
