Senior Platform Engineer (Azure) - UK (fully remote)
An exciting opportunity for a Senior Platform Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team responsible for designing, building, and supporting Azure platforms that underpin critical business services.
The Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering and supporting Azure-based infrastructure, driving best practice across automation, security, and continuous delivery.
The Senior Platform Engineer will work closely with engineering teams to ensure platforms are robust, scalable and fully automated end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure supporting critical services
* Deliver Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, ensuring full automation of deployments
* Implement and maintain secure cloud environments, including identity and access controls
* Manage network architecture, including peering, routing, NSGs, and segmentation
* Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines for distributed systems
* Deliver monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (live and synthetic)
* Support multi-region, highly available deployments across Azure services
* Manage containerised workloads and associated registries
* Collaborate with development teams to enable best practice engineering approaches
Required Experience
* Strong experience with Microsoft Azure (VMs, Container Services, Application Gateway, APIM, DevOps pipelines, security best practice)
* Hands-on expertise with ideally Bicep or Terraform
* Advanced knowledge of Docker (image management, optimisation, deployments)
* Experience with Linux environments, PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB
* Scripting experience (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible)
* Experience with Azure Resource Manager templates
* Strong understanding of identity and authentication (Entra ID, LDAP, Azure B2C)
* Experience managing SSL certificates lifecycle (automation, renewal, bindings)
* Knowledge of managed identities, service principals, and service connections
* Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and ownership mindset
Nice to Have
* Experience with network routing, SD-WAN, Private DNS
* Familiarity with Azure DevOps, TFS or GitHub
* Knowledge of Azure API Management and App Services
* Understanding of Agile delivery environments
* Exposure to security tooling (e.g. container scanning solutions)
Our client are based near London and this is a fully remote role with occasional trips to the office, candidates must be based in the UK and eligible to work in the UK as visa sponsorship will not be provided.
