A lovely family near Blandford seeks a long‑term nanny to join their household. The family has two girls aged 5 months and 2 ½ years old and offers permanent 30 hours per week.
Until September the schedule will be two long days on Monday and Wednesday from 7:45 am to 5:45 pm, plus an additional 10 hours to be discussed and agreed – likely on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
From September the schedule changes to Tuesday, Thursday, and one additional day to be discussed and agreed.
The family lives on a farm, so the nanny should be comfortable with animals and country life. A love for the outdoors, confidence in engaging the children in fun activities within the farm and local area, and a willingness to walk dogs are essential. The family also owns horses, a pony, chickens, and pigs.
Nursery duties are required, so the nanny must be confident cooking children’s meals, handling children’s laundry, and keeping the children’s spaces clean and tidy.
The ideal candidate will feel confident providing sole charge care while also being happy with parents and other farm staff being present as part of the farm family.
Requirements include:
* Previous childcare experience with children under 5 years old.
* A clear understanding of developmental milestones.
* Valid driver’s licence and confidence driving on country roads.
* Childcare qualifications preferred; checkable references and a clear DBS check essential. Previous nanny experience is not essential.
The right nanny will be flexible about how hours are structured throughout the week and able to adapt hours to the family’s needs over time. The family is happy to wait until September 2026 for the right long‑term person.
Optionally, the family can offer an additional 10 hours a week for full housekeeping duties and cleaning – suitable for someone passionate about organising and deep cleaning, though not essential for the nanny role.
Pay ranges from £13–£15 gross per hour, increasing to up to £17 gross per hour for an experienced nanny. The position ideally starts May 2026, with flexibility for a later start if needed; a September start is also possible for the right candidate.
