Adecco are recruiting on behalf of the London Borough of Newham for an experienced Senior Engineer - Parking Design to join their Highways & Sustainable Transport team. Job Title: Senior Engineer - Parking Design
Pay Rate: £26.13 per hour PAYE / £34.15 per hour Umbrella
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday (9am-5pm)
Duration: Initial 3-month contract
Location: Hybrid working - site/office based in Newham 3-4 days per weekRole Overview
The successful candidate will work alongside the Senior Project Manager to deliver a range of projects within the Highways & Sustainable Transport team. The role focuses on efficient project delivery, ensuring best value and continuous improvement.
You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage projects end-to-end - from inception and funding approval through to on-site delivery and project close-out - particularly within Traffic Management, Road Safety, and Parking schemes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop evidence bases for proposed schemes and define outcomes to address identified issues
Arrange site investigations, data collection, and supporting evidence to inform design work
Produce and assess scheme options to achieve agreed outcomes
Project manage works funded by Council teams (e.g., Schools, Regeneration, Housing) and external developers
Monitor and challenge consultant and contractor performance and invoicing
Maintain, forecast, and review allocated project budgets
Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated delivery
Respond to enquiries from residents and Councillors and support reporting requirements
Design and manage public consultations, record feedback, and implement appropriate scheme adjustmentsExperience & Skills Required
Strong knowledge of legislation and policy frameworks relating to kerbside infrastructure
Experience delivering parking design schemes, including CPZs and waiting/loading restrictions
Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, consultation processes, and report writing
Working knowledge of relevant standards and codes of practice
Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, KeySIGNS, KeyPOST, or similarApply Now:
