About Newham College

Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education. The Role

As a Senior Job Coach, you will:

* Provide direct coaching to learners with SEND in real workplace settings, using tailored strategies and systematic instruction.
* Develop and review personalised employability and support plans to promote independence, professionalism, and workplace success.
* Coordinate meaningful work placements, liaising with employers, families, and external partners to secure outstanding opportunities.
* Lead and support a team of Job Coaches, managing performance and professional development.
* Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and learner progress processes are consistently applied.
* Contribute to innovative projects, social enterprises, and employer-led initiatives that broaden learners’ horizons.


About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

* Experienced in supporting young people with SEND into employment, training, or volunteering.
* Skilled at working collaboratively with employers, parents, carers, and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
* Organised, proactive, and committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
* A strong communicator, able to inspire confidence in learners and employers alike.


Essential qualifications/experience

* Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or above).
* Experience of coaching or supporting young people with SEND in work-based or educational settings.
* A commitment to safeguarding and to widening participation in employment for people with SEND.


Desirable

* Level 4 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards Level 5 within 2 years).
* Training in Systematic Instruction.
* Experience of running social enterprise projects or employer engagement initiatives.


Safeguarding and Recruitment

These include (depending on role and individual): Enhanced DBS including Children’s Barred List check, DfE teaching/management Barred List check, online searches, overseas criminal record check, evidence of identity and Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory references, medical fitness, evidence of relevant qualifications and a check of previous employment history.

You will be required to become familiar with the College's policies and comply with safeguarding and welfare requirements. All staff are asked to complete mandatory training in relation to KCSIE and other key areas, and to read relevant policies.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. The College’s policy is to offer roles at the entry point of the advertised salary range, but based on qualifications and experience, a higher starting salary within the range may be offered.
