Our maritime family of systems is AI-enabled and built for reliable performance in the harshest seas, delivering NATO a fully integrated hardware–software capability for scalable ISR and strike operations Your mission Working as a Marine Engineer / Marine Technician, you’ll be part of a specialist maritime engineering team supporting both the integration, maintenance, and testing of Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) This is a hands-on, technically diverse role where traditional marine engineering meets cutting-edge autonomy systems. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all vessels are maintained to the highest safety, reliability, and operational standards. You’ll be joining a growing organisation at the forefront of UK defence innovation, working with next-generation powertrains, hybrid propulsion, and digital control systems designed to support unmanned operations. Responsibilities Perform service, maintenance, and repair of inboard engines and propulsion systems. Conduct fault diagnosis and testing on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems for both manned and unmanned vessels. Support integration, commissioning, and sea trials of autonomous and hybrid marine platforms. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and ensure vessels meet safety and quality standards prior to operational deployment. Maintain accurate service records, defect reports, and warranty documentation. Collaborate with engineering teams to support modifications Qualifications Qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven hands-on experience in marine service, maintenance, or propulsion systems. Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems on marine platforms. Ability to work independently with precision, accountability, and attention to detail. Be eligible for SC OR DV Clearance Able to work onsite in South Devon with Travel Full Driving Licence with C1E Desirable Experience supporting Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs), autonomous craft, or naval platforms. Familiarity with CANbus, control systems, and data logging for remote and autonomous operations. Knowledge of defence maritime standards (e.g. Lloyd’s Naval Rules, DEF STANs, or ISO maritime safety). Experience with power management systems, hybrid propulsion, or energy storage. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills under operational conditions. Background working in secure or classified defence environments (SC or DV clearance desirable).
