Job summary Band 2 - Ward Clerk Vacancy - 13.5 hours post An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Ward Clerk vacancy for Bonney Ward. Bonney ward is a 27 bedded ward consisting of acute medical patients. The ward specialises in diabetes, endocrinology, haematology, oncology, Specialist Palliative Care and dermatology. Applicants must be able to deal pleasantly, efficiently and sympathetically with all patients / relative enquires at departmental level. Experience of working in a hospital environment would be desirable as well as using Oracle, WPAS and IT systems. The position involves Administrative support for the nursing staff. Applicants will work alongside the nursing team on the ward and will be required to be responsible for answering all ward telephone calls to the department as well as directing enquiries to appropriate member of staff. Good I.T. skills are desirable, as the post holder will be responsible for entering all patient information data etc, onto the hospital computerised WPAS system. Main duties of the job The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Unit. The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the speedy admission, discharge and transfer of patients. By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times. The Ward Clerk is responsible to the Ward Managers in providing and efficient clerical service across the wards. The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
