Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc. infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical implementation of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables:
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Lead in creating new product or service ideas and developing plans for new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design through to production and installation.
* Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
* Apply mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Provide accurate cost analysis forecasts for projects.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality control tests and oversee the construction, development, and deployment of systems.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of professional engineering disciplines and related fields.
* Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills continuously.
* Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project phases and be accountable for ongoing activities.
* Mentor colleagues with less experience.
* Comply with QEHS requirements related to the role.
Skill Requirements:
* Previous technical experience in SISS, engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses/certifications for the discipline.
* Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.
* Knowledge of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD software.
* Ability to collaborate effectively.
* Customer-focused with stakeholder management skills.
* Problem-solving passion and solution-oriented mindset.
* Strong analytical and reasoning skills with process visualization ability.
