Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner - Calderdale

Main duties of the job
We provide an enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Trainee PWP) to join our expanding Talking Therapies service operating across Calderdale.
Job responsibilities
Support trainees to become confident, patient‑focused clinicians; develop clinical skills through a PG Certificate Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners course delivered by the University of Sheffield; provide Low Intensity CBT‑based interventions to clients with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression; attend supervised clinical practice and university teaching; and work with a motivated team of mental health professionals.
The Role
In this fixed‑term post of 12 months, you will provide Low Intensity CBT interventions while undertaking the PG Certificate title commencing October 2026. The role includes four days of clinical practice and one day of university study per week, with one remote late shift (12:00‑20:00) each week; you should be prepared to attend an office in Calderdale at least once a week.
Fixed term and future opportunities
After completing the training and becoming a qualified PWP, you may be considered for a permanent post within our service.

General qualifications and experience
* Undergraduate degree or evidence of Level 6 study
* At least two years’ experience in mental health settings, including volunteering or work
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form work alliances
* Openness to learning and applying new knowledge and skills
* Ability to work under pressure and manage administrative tasks effectively
* Flexibility, including out‑of‑hours work (one late shift 12–20 pm)
* Commitment to diversity and inclusion
* Knowledge and use of CBT techniques for common mental health difficulties
* Experience of telephone work
Other requirements
* Available for interview between 29 June 2026 and 3 July 2026 and 10 July 2026
* Available to commence the role on 5 October 2026 with remote induction, and onsite from 13 October 2026
* Will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
* Applicants who completed an NHS‑funded psychological professions training within the last two years are ineligible
* Right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status
* Visa holders must have permission to work and study in the UK
