This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Adult Epilepsy Service. The service is based at GSST working over both main sites Guys Hospital and St Thomas’ hospital. The post holder will act as a specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist epilepsy service, providing advice, education and support to patients and their families and health care professionals Applicants must be an experienced registered nurses and have practiced at a minimum band 7 post or above.
All potential post holders should have at minimum 5 years’ worth of experience as epilepsy specialist nurse. They must be able to demonstrate team leadership, resilience and determination. They should seek to lead new practice and service redesign solutions in response to feedback, evaluation and need, working across boundaries and broadening sphere of influence.
The post holder will be required to engage key stakeholders and influence the development and improvement of practice, patient care and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Adult trained nurse to lead the highly specialised Epilepsy Outpatient nursing team, supporting our adult epileptic patients (including prenatal/obstetric patients) within the neurology outpatient department. The post holder will be a member of a larger well-established MDT within Guy’s & St Thomas Hospital, London.
Applicants must be an experienced adult registered nurse and have practiced at a minimum band 7 post or above for a minimum of 4 years. We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in looking after people with Epilepsy. They must be able to demonstrate team leadership, resilience and determination. They should seek to lead new practice and service redesign solutions in response to feedback, evaluation and need, working across boundaries and broadening sphere of influence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) is an experienced registered nurse with specialist skills to assess and treat patients and manage the clinical environment, in liaison with the management and consultant team. The nurse will act as an autonomous practitioner in forming clinical decisions and complex management plans in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of patients. In conjunction with senior nursing and consultant staff formulate the development of clinical guidance for all aspects of clinical practice within the clinical specialty. The post holder will develop new areas of practice, with nursing and consultant staff ensuring quality standards are met. The post holder will work closely with the interdisciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that high quality patient care is maintained.
The Lead ANP will work in a team of with a band 7 Nurse Specialist that demonstrates a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education and support to the MDT team across outpatient and inpatient teams, particularly across the emergency pathways, as well as with patients. The Lead ANP will actively undertake clinical audits within the specialist area.
