About the Role
Are you passionate about sport, mentoring young people, and making a real difference?
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist secondary setting. This role is perfect for someone with a keen interest in sports, coaching, fitness, or outdoor activities ? who can use these interests to engage and motivate learners — particularly those who may present with challenging behaviour.
You’ll help pupils build confidence, stay engaged, and develop positive routines both inside and outside the classroom
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support
* Use sport and physical activity to boost engagement
* Support learning while promoting positive behaviour
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Help implement behaviour management strategies
* ? Work closely with teachers and support staff
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience working with children or young people (especially behaviour support)
* Has a background or strong interest in sports, coaching, fitness, youth work, or outdoor education
* Is confident, resilient, and can maintain clear boundaries
* Naturally takes on a mentor / role model position
* Brings energy, structure, and consistency
* Holds (or is willing to get) an enhanced DBS
This role suits people from backgrounds such as sports coaching, personal training, military, youth work, or care work
