Overview

Location: London office or remote in the UK, with occasional meetings in London.


Responsibilities

* Perform independent model validations of FinCrime/Fraud models using proportionate modelling techniques.
* Write clear and impactful model validation reports and present findings in relevant committees.
* Review any FinCrime/Fraud model changes and provide recommendations to first‑line teams to keep models fit for purpose.
* Build relationships with first‑line FinCrime/Fraud modelling teams and wider risk teams to support the embedding of the model risk framework.
* Support the team lead in reviewing ongoing model performance monitoring to ensure models operate within risk thresholds.
* Support the FinCrime/Fraud model development team when further action is required.
* Help validate models in other disciplines (Financial, Operational, Credit) to manage peak demand.
* Research and learn the latest modelling and validation techniques.
* Contribute to the Model Risk Oversight Committee to improve model risk management.
* Promote a strong risk culture and share best practice with the organization.
* Be highly motivated, self‑motivated, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
* Pay great attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind.
* Communicate complex problems clearly and provide effective challenge while building respectful relationships.
* Keen to grow knowledge in business and technology.


Qualifications

* Experience in developing and/or validating models for Financial Crime, Fraud, Credit, Interest Rate, Liquidity, Regulatory Capital, Stress testing, or forecasting.
* In‑depth knowledge of statistical techniques for risk management.
* Experience managing a modelling project through its full lifecycle.
* Strong technical skills such as SQL or Python.
* Working knowledge of machine learning models: gradient‑boosted trees and similar.
* Understanding of customer risk assessment controls, transaction monitoring controls, and financial crime and fraud typologies (preferred).
* Experience in a transaction‑driven business or similar industry (preferred).
