Your new company We are expanding and seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team in Belfast. This is a permanent role offering career growth in a thriving industry. Your new role Maintain day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, sales and purchase ledgers, and journal entries. Reconcile supplier accounts and manage aged creditors. Process accounts payable and receivable in line with contract terms and payment schedules. Conduct bank reconciliations and manage petty cash. Ensure accurate allocation of expenses and revenues across departments and projects. Handle RCT payments and returns, VAT returns, etc. Prepare monthly accounts to trial balance including supporting schedules (e.g., fixed assets, prepayments, accruals). Assist in monthly and year-end closing procedures. Liaise with service, installation, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking of jobs. Support audit preparation and generation of required financial documentation. Payroll management. What you'll need to succeed Proficient in Sage Accounting Software. Strong knowledge of trial balance preparation and reconciliation processes. High attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines. QBE or Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, fire, security, or service-based industries.
