Assistant Geotechnical Engineer / Assistant Geo-Environmental Engineer
Our client is seeking multiple Assistant Geotechnical Engineer and Assistant Geo-Environmental Engineer positions in Nottingham, Leeds, or Birmingham.
Ideal candidates will have at least 1-2 years of postgraduate relevant work experience. The Person
* A minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) in Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field
* 1-2 years of practical experience in ground investigation or relevant fields
* Knowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930 standards
* Experience with geotechnical data management software such as Openground, Holebase, Gint, Pebble Geo, etc.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to work independently or within a team
* Capacity to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* Strong attention to detail, effective planning, and organizational skills
* A structured approach to problem-solving and excellent communication skills
* Awareness of industry legal and safety regulations
* Desirable: AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, GPS/GNSS survey experience, driving larger vehicles like 4x4s and vans
* Eligible to work and reside in the UK; flexible to travel across the UK
The Role
* Collect geotechnical and geoenvironmental data across diverse environments
* Plan, execute, and report on geo-environmental and geotechnical investigations
* Manage project data to meet contract deliverables
* Participate in field activities, including assessment and analysis of geotechnical conditions
* Conduct laboratory testing of soil and rock samples
* Analyze and interpret geotechnical data; assist in report writing
* Engage in R&D projects to develop innovative engineering tools
* Implement quality control and assurance processes
* Prioritize health and safety responsibilities
* Attend meetings with clients and internal teams
* Assist with soil and groundwater risk assessments
* Collaborate with engineers to produce quality reports
* Uphold company values through professional conduct
* Hold a valid UK driving license and CSCS card
* Attention to detail in data compilation from multiple sources
