Proposals Engineer
Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 - Dependant on experience

My client is a specialist manufacturer of bespoke machinery for the process industry sectors. As a Proposals Engineer, your role will focus on liaising with new & existing customers, providing technical support, generating quotes and assisting with the generating of sales.
Responsibilities:
1. Review and interpret customer enquiries, including data sheets, project specifications, and P&IDs.
2. Select appropriate materials, flow control systems, sealing systems, and other components for compressors and packages.
3. Perform calculations to size equipment such as compressors, motors, and auxiliary systems.
4. Write RFQs for suppliers and estimate costs to calculate selling prices.
5. Draft detailed proposal documents and support bids with high-quality documentation.
6. Maintain accurate records of opportunities and bids.
7. Attend meetings with customers to discuss technical and commercial details.
Requirements:
1. A degree in a physical science, engineering, or mathematics (chemical or mechanical engineering preferred).
2. Knowledge of rotating machinery (e.g., pumps, compressors, mechanical seals) and fluid-handling equipment (e.g., piping, valves, pressure vessels).
3. Experience working in the engineering sector (graduates without experience may be considered for a Junior Application Engineer position).
4. Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
5. Exceptional communication and organisational skills.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Project.
7. Self-motivated team player with a "can-do" attitude.
