YMC was founded in 1995 by Jimmy Collins and Fraser Moss.
Taking its name from a quote by the famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy; “You must create your own design style” - You Must Create is both a mission statement and a call to action. Inspired by the influence of traditional workwear and military uniforms and merging them with a hallmark creative flair, Collins and Moss initially set out to create a brand around understated, functional garments, designed to stand the test of time.
A quarter of a century on, YMC continues to pour its encyclopaedic knowledge of subcultures, music and the arts including counter-culture and post-punk DIY attitude - into creating wearable yet directional collections that seamlessly capture the current zeitgeist, across menswear, womenswear and unisex designs.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join our Production & Tech team, and to work alongside our Product Development & Design teams to maintain and uphold our quality & fit standards across menswear, womenswear and unisex ranges.
You’ll manage the technical development process from prototype - alongside our Product Development team & Pattern Cutter - through to production, overseeing quality, fit and compliance while mentoring a Junior Garment Tech. Working closely with Design, Product Development, Production and our global supplier base, you’ll help maintain and evolve YMC’s high technical standards.
Key responsibilities
* Upholding quality & fit standards – paramount for YMC
* Organise & lead garment fit sessions, pattern amendments and technical sign-off across woven, jersey and knit categories
* Manage and develop a Junior Garment Technologist
* Set up and maintain tech specs, fit comments and seasonal data in PLM
* Liaise with global suppliers on quality, AQLs, testing and compliance
* Oversee grading rules and consistency across all ranges
* Manage care labels, wash care, testing and technical manuals
* Attend factory visits and collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Production, E-commerce and Retail teams
About you
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Senior Garment Technologist
* Strong technical knowledge of woven, jersey and knit construction
* A strong eye for detail and appreciation of the YMC brand aesthetic
* Confident in fit, quality control and problem-solving
* Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working to deadlines
* Experienced with PLM and Excel
* Confident communicator and collaborative team player
* Positive mindset & attitude to overcome challenges
* Willing to travel for factory visits

* Full-time, based in our Kentish Town office
* Hybrid working: 1 day WFH per week after probation
