We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and self‑motivated individual to provide administrative and data management support for a range of research activities within the Research & Development Department Clinical Teams. This role supports Research Nurses and Practitioners by collecting, collating, and submitting trial data accurately and timely. The post holder will also assist in maintenance of study files, arrange appointments with patients, obtain test results and medical records, and compile reports on trial progress. The role offers varied duties, the opportunity to learn about clinical trial conduct, and the satisfaction of contributing to research.
The ideal candidate will have good IT and literacy skills, keen attention to detail, and be an excellent communicator. Familiarity with medical terminology, NHS computer systems, and clinical research processes is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Trials Assistant is a key member of the R&D team, assisting delivery of research studies safely and timely. The post holder will provide efficient administrative, organisational, and data management support, working across local and multi‑centre studies.
* Locate and receipt patient notes; manage downloading of patient data from Trust electronic systems for monitor visits and audits.
* Manage all relevant documentation within patient medical records (e.g., information sheets, consent forms) ensuring recording and storage according to Trust policy.
* Update trial databases, including local management system EDGE, with patient details.
* Ensure required clinical tests are conducted and extract data from Trust reporting systems.
* Arrange pathological sample shipment and electronic data for central review and reporting as required by protocol.
* Communicate effectively with Sponsor company staff and other non‑Trust staff to ensure smooth data collection.
* Act as first telephone contact for enquiries from staff, patients, and carers, providing responses within area of knowledge and escalating appropriately.
* Plan and organise meetings and events to agreed timescales.
* Attend relevant meetings as required to conduct duties effectively.
* Maintain contact with local and national organisations to keep up‑to‑date with relevant trials, working to ICH/GCP, Research Governance Standards, and EU directive on GCP.
* Utilise all relevant ICT systems (Trust and external) to input and report information accurately and timely.
