About the Role
We are on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Hygiene Manager to lead our hygiene team at the renowned Gunstone's Bakery site. Known for producing premium bakery products such as bread rolls and hot cross buns for high-profile partners like Marks & Spencer, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our iconic bakery.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee hygiene operations in our 24/7 production facility, managing a dedicated team of approximately 30 individuals, including 4 team leaders. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the highest hygiene standards within our production environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee internal and external hygiene, waste management, and contractor management.
* Manage pest control and budget for subcontractors while supervising internal hygiene shifts.
* Set and implement company policies and standards for hygiene and plant operations.
* Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
* Deliver training to enhance skills and compliance for both hygiene and technical teams.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with hygiene/service contractors, chemical suppliers, and pest control vendors.
About You
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with significant experience in hygiene management within the food manufacturing industry. Your strong leadership skills and deep understanding of food safety and hygiene standards will be essential as you collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
* Knowledge of BRC Standards.
* Extensive experience in a management or supervisory role within the food industry, ideally in hygiene or technical positions.
* Strong understanding of food safety processes and acute hygiene standards in manufacturing.
* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a large team.
* Problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Qualifications
* Level 3 or 4 Award in Food Safety.
* HACCP Level 3 or 4.
* IOSH Managing Safely.
* Experience with internal or external auditing.
* COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) certification.
