Macmillan Therapy Assistant

An exciting opportunity within the Trafford Macmillan Palliative Support Service for a Therapy Assistant.
Working within the Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Team, contributing to the provision of a coordinated and comprehensive service for patients receiving specialist palliative care, including patients resident in care homes in Central Manchester.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Medics, Dietician, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Nurses, and Speech and Language Therapist. The team aims to provide effective support rehabilitation and/or palliative care to patients with a life limiting condition.
Main duties of the job
* Assist professionals in the implementation, delivery and evaluation of rehabilitation and education programmes to promote independence and encourage improved health, functional capabilities and quality of life.
* Hold a small caseload under the supervision of the responsible clinician, supporting patients with life limiting illness to maximise their health and enable them to be cared for in their preferred place.
* Demonstrate ability to be mobile within the community.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level 2 functional skills
* Care Certificate
* Level 4/5 apprenticeship such as Assistant Practitioner in Healthcare
* Relevant evidence of study in healthcare
* Statutory and Mandatory training
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the use and fitting of equipment
* Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team processes
* Understanding of professional conduct, health, safety and risk awareness
* Knowledge of theories and current best practice in neurological rehabilitation
Experience
* Demonstrable experience working in health or social care
* Working with therapy/nursing services
* Experience of working within a neurological rehabilitation setting

Benefits
* Salary: £28,392 to £31,157 per annum (pro rata)
