Job Summary
The Prison Opticians Company is looking to recruit a reliable and detail-focused individual for the position of Optical Lab Technician and Retail Optical Assistant. This is one full-time role, and the successful candidate will be expected to work three days in the laboratory glazing spectacles and two days in the retail practice as an Optical Assistant.
The laboratory technician role involves the production and quality control of prescription spectacles for individuals within secure environments such as prisons and young offenders' institutions, while the Optical Assistant role involves dispensing spectacles to the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Glazing, fitting, and quality checking prescription spectacles
* Maintaining accurate stock usage logs and proactively identifying when stock is running low
* Organising lens and frame deliveries
* Dispensing spectacles and conducting pre-screening tests
* Carrying out frame styling, adjustments, collections, and advising patients on the best options
* Reception duties and general administration, supporting the smooth running of the practice
* Keeping the laboratory and retail shop organised, clean, and well maintained
Requirements
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and carry out repetitive tasks in the laboratory
* Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment while meeting daily spectacle glazing targets
* Good organisational skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions precisely
Previous experience as a Laboratory Technician and Optical Assistant required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
