Senior Structural Engineer – Manchester City Centre
Vertical Recruitment is working with an award-winning employee-owned multidisciplinary consultancy, renowned for its excellence within the civil and structural engineering sector. With offices across the UK, they operate in a variety of sectors including residential, education, commercial, retail, leisure, and historic refurbishment.

As an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), the company shares profits with employees twice yearly, with typical distributions of 12–15% of annual salary. The first £3,600 of each distribution is tax-free.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver structural designs for refurbishment and conservation projects across the North.
* Undertake structural analysis, design calculations, and the preparation of technical reports.
* Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Provide support and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
* Contribute to project scoping, proposals, and schedules.
* Ensure compliance with design codes, standards, and company procedures.
* Promote innovation and sustainable design practices within the team.
Requirements
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng).
* Chartered or working towards Chartered status (IStructE/ICE).
* 4+ years’ experience in structural engineering with a strong technical background.
* Previous experience in refurbishment, conservation, or heritage projects is highly desirable.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders and build client relationships.
* Commercial awareness and the ability to manage deadlines and budgets.
* Enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting junior team members.
