Are you a confident, resilient education professional who thrives when making a real difference in the classroom?
Milk Education is working with a well-established secondary school in Wakefield seeking exceptional Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers to join their team on an ongoing basis.
This is not your average cover role — here, your presence supports a school that puts students first, fosters an inclusive culture, and values professionals who can provide calm, firm, and fair classroom leadership.
About the School & Culture
The school serves a diverse secondary cohort and operates with a clear vision focused on respect, responsibility and safety. Students are supported to access a broad, balanced curriculum with interventions in place to help them thrive academically and personally. Staff wellbeing and the welfare of pupils are both high priorities, and safeguarding forms a core part of the school’s ethos.
You’ll be part of a setting that:
Upholds high expectations for behaviour and learning so that all young people can succeed in a calm and purposeful environment.
Embraces an inclusive approach to student support — adapting teaching and learning to meet learners’ needs.
Encourages personal development through a broad, enriched curriculum and structured routines.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor or Cover Teacher you will be entrusted with:
Stepping confidently into lessons — managing classes effectively in the absence of the usual teacher.
Maintaining a positive learning atmosphere where students feel safe, respected, and able to engage productively.
Implementing behaviour expectations consistently and fairly, in line with the school’s systems.
Supporting students with varying needs, from mainstream classes to those needing extra guidance or structure.
We’re Looking For
You’ll excel in this role if you have:
✔ Experience with behaviour management in secondary schools
✔ A background in challenging contexts — such as Pupil Referral Units, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring roles, or prison education settings
✔ Confidence in establishing authority, building positive rapport quickly, and remaining calm under pressure
✔ A proactive, resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people’s progress
