Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in West Northamptonshire. As Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity, we support the Hospice, ensuring they have the vital funds necessary to cover their care. With a newly appointed CEO we are on an exciting journey of raising additional funds for Hospice care.
About the role
As we launch an exciting new chapter in our retail journey, we’re looking for passionate individuals to help bring it to life. As part of our expanding team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the customer experience at our new Reuse Shop. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shop, leading and managing a dedicated team. This includes meeting budget and sales targets, pricing, organising and presenting donated goods, managing data and producing sales reports, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
This is more than retail, it’s retail with purpose.
Duties and Key responsibilities
* Responsible for your personal safety and that of all personnel under your authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities.
* Obtain and use the correct tools/equipment for the work and not to use any that are unsafe or damaged. All tools, equipment and personal protective equipment must be stored in the approved place after use.
* To report any accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence or dangerous condition to their line manager.
* To avoid improvised arrangements and suggest safe ways of eliminating hazards.
* Maintain high standards of health and safety in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Leading, training and supporting a team of staff and managing the staff rota.
* Interview and induct new staff and volunteers and correctly train them in their roles.
* Implement strategies to increase sales, including attractive displays and effective pricing.
* Using a barcoding system and EPOS till to record all items donated and stock sold.
* Track sales and expenses, and implement strategies to maximise profits.
* Handling financial tasks including reconciliation, banking and sales reporting.
* Dealing with customers and traders in a helpful and professional manner.
* Leading on external promotional events and campaigns such as pop-up shops
* Occasionally visiting other Recycling Centres with the Reuse driver when required to liaise with on-site teams and check processes are being adhered to.
* Oversee the opening and closing of the shop, ensuring the premises is always secure and tidy.
* Ensuring donated electrical items are visually inspected, function and PAT tested.
* Maximise income from donated items using online platforms such as eBay.
* Organising and managing onsite auctions
* Attending regular contract meetings and reuse best practice meetings both in-person and online
* Ensuring the teams compliance with Hospice reuse policies and procedures.
