We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D / open prison for males with capacity of around 700. HMP Kirkham is a unique environment, with stunning grounds and lots to offer both staff and patients, including our brand new, state of the art gym.

This role sits within our Primary Care team, although you may also assist the mental health and substance misuse teams.

Hours

This Position Is Full Time Working 37.5 Hours Per Week. You Will Work Various Shifts Between The Following Days / Hours

Monday - Thursday - 8am - 7pm

Friday - 8am - 4:30pm

Saturday & Sunday - 8am - 12pm

Weekend work is around 1 full weekend per month.

Salary

You will receive an annual salary of between £25,557 - £29,723 per annum depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

Deliver exceptional care to patients in the healthcare department alongside the nursing team
Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
Support clinics, including bloods, ECGs, obs, weight etc
Carry out NHS Health checks
Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
Assist with the ordering of supplies and equipment, restocking and stock management
You will primarily be working within the primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the substance misuse or mental health teams

Our New Healthcare Assistant Will

Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable
Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
