Admissions Co‑ordinator

The post holder will manage the allocated specialty waiting list and maintain government targets in accordance with the Patient Access Policy.
They may work unsupervised and independently, and collaborate with clinical, management and administration colleagues to deliver high‑standard administrative support for a patient‑first service.
Main duties of the job
During the first 12 months, duties include:
* Contacting and booking pre‑operative assessments and TCI surgery dates for patients, prioritising according to clinical and waiting‑time criteria and the Patient Access Policy.
* Using the patient administration system to produce letters informing patients of admission times, location, date and eating/drinking instructions.
* Monitoring and maintaining elective inpatient waiting lists, adding patients within 24 hours of a clinician request.
After 12 months, the holder will progress to Band 4 upon full competence:
* Planning theatre cases into lists 6 weeks ahead, using knowledge of procedures, operating times and theatre availability.
* Fully utilising available theatre lists and escalating any issues as needed.
Successful candidates will transition to a Band 4 post after one year, subject to meeting all competencies.

Person Specification
Administrative/Customer Service Experience
* Experience in administrative or customer service roles.
