Job Description:
The service manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of the service users. They ensure the welfare of service users and compliance with organizational standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within a legislative framework, ensuring practices align with statutes and government guidelines, and promoting the organization's values and care ethos.
The area Service Manager will oversee and support managers for five supported living projects and community activities for adults and children at Lynton Community Care. The Service Manager reports directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities
1. Referring including assessment, liaising with previous care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
2. Maintaining good communication and relationships with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
3. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (revised 2012), Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
4. Controlling the environment of the homes, ensuring health and safety legislation, infection control, and environmental health standards are met. Conducting risk assessments and fire checks to ensure safety.
5. Working with CIW to understand and comply with the Fundamental Standards, and carrying out statutory notifications as needed.
6. Managing legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents.
7. Documenting maintenance issues and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
8. Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
9. Recruiting staff, overseeing induction and training requirements.
10. Promoting a culture of openness and honesty, supporting staff decision-making, and implementing service improvements.
11. Holding regular staff meetings, supporting staff development, supervision, and building effective communication mechanisms.
12. Participating in disciplinary processes, including suspensions, investigations, and meetings, in consultation with HR if needed.
13. Managing staff scheduling, absences, holidays, and sickness cover.
14. Managing medication ordering, booking, disposal, and audits.
15. Overseeing budgeting and expenditure, including petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
16. Safeguarding service users and managing safeguarding issues.
17. Handling applications related to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with paid personal representatives to ensure legal compliance in care plans.
18. Being on call out of hours for advice and incident response.
19. Attending supervision and engaging in continuous professional development (CPD).
20. Contributing to strategic planning and business growth.
21. Performing other duties as determined by the Director, appropriate to your skills and competence.
22. Managing budgets and financials.
23. Writing and auditing behavioral reports and compiling necessary documentation.
The service manager must possess skills and qualifications to support both adults and children living with learning disabilities.
