About the Role

We’re looking for an AI & Data Privacy Programme Manager/Director that has exceptional people, leadership & communication skills.


You will be comfortable managing and operationalising effective privacy, cyber and AI compliance programmes in a results driven commercial and innovation-focused environment with high levels of ambiguity. Influencing without authority, and exceptional at building relationships with senior stakeholders across the business to get things done. You'll also have the understanding and skillset to grasp technology concepts quickly and action and embed data privacy, cyber and AI compliance requirements into projects, business processes and promote data literacy amongst colleagues.



What You’ll be Doing

* You’ll manage our privacy, cyber and AI compliance programmes with a focus on strategy, operationalising and execution and the use of privacy enhancing technologies. You’ll apply a hands-on approach liaising with all relevant communities and stakeholders from our legal, regulatory, corporate and tech & ops teams to conceive and draft project plans, assign tasks and responsibilities and ensure and track execution.
* You develop and manage metrics to monitor the efficacy of these programmes as well as assurance frameworks.
* You’ll work with the AI & Data Privacy Counsel and, as the team grows, with other members of the privacy, legal & compliance teams to conduct DPIAs, TIAs and AI conformity assessments and liaise with teams across the business to ensure these are actioned.
* You engage with the commercial legal, procurement, security and other teams to ensure proper third party risk management of suppliers and customers including due diligence (DD) and support other members of the team to implement contractual controls (privacy, AI and cyber provisions, DPAs, data transfer compliance).
* You are the primary point of contact for and will manage investor DD requests, and support other members of the team on privacy and/or AI-related M&A and similar workstreams.
* You support the cyber, tech & ops and other teams on incident response and cyber investigations.
* You manage and oversee the implementation of data and AI policies and processes.
* You support the other members of the team primarily on the operational aspects of DSARs, complaints or regulatory enquiries, e.g. from the ICO or other data regulators.
* You support the Legal & Compliance team on Board and executive reporting.
* You maintain our functional risk register, partner with other members of the team to engage with a range of stakeholders on enterprise risk management and provide tactical SME support to key stakeholders from the HR, Marketing, Finance, tech & ops and other communities.
* You keep track of logs for breach and incidents, DSARs, regulator complaints, deletion requests, projects and similar.
* You’ll foster a collaborative environment by actively engaging with cross-functional teams, promoting knowledge sharing on AI, privacy and security compliance, and facilitating effective communication to drive successful outcomes aligned with Nscale’s business objectives.



About You

* 3+ years of experience as a privacy and/or AI specialist in-house, preferably in a UK or International tech company;.
* Previous experience and knowledge of data privacy, cyber, AI and other data frameworks and regulations including familiarity with the EU and UK GDPR and EU AI Act.
* Strong analytical and project management skills - inquisitive and proactive self-starter with attention to detail used to deliver quality work products to tight deadlines.
* Ability to think strategically while executing effectively at a tactical and operational level.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
* High degree of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive business issues.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
* Professional Privacy and/or AI qualifications (e.g. IAPP CIPM, CIPP/E or AIGP)

Nice to Have:

* Exposure to high-growth startup or tech environments
* Project management qualifications (PRINCE2, CAPM, PMP or similar)
* Good knowledge of privacy enhancing technologies and other tech tools (e.g. OneTrust, BigID)
