Career Opportunity: Project Design Manager Are you looking for a new challenge where your engineering experience, management skills, value engineering aptitude, and a keen eye for detail will be fully valued and developed? Due to increased workload, we are looking for a permanent Works Project Design Manager who will join a dynamic, innovative, focused and engaged team, tackling our increase in Design & Build workload from a variety of key clients, including the Environment Agency, National Highways, Local Authorities and private clients. The successful applicant will ideally be based at our head office, or a regional office depending upon which is more convenient to where they live. A normal working week will be 40 hours with a hybrid working arrangement – 2 days at home. Travelling to meetings with designers, clients, and our sites will be required. Main Duties include: * Fully responsibility for proactively managing a design phase team, which may include Consultants and/or specialist designers. * Being the Jackson lead at meetings with clients, including presenting, and discussing design ideas and solutions. * Preparation of design documents, briefs, reports, and management plans. * Development and management of design programmes. * Reviewing design documents for compliance with scheme requirements, utilising gained knowledge and experience to advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities. We’re after someone with: * Extensive experience in at least one of - highways, structures, infrastructure or flood alleviation works * A civil engineering academic and site background which allows them to understand design principles and envisage how schemes are built. * Good collaborative, communication and team building skills * Programming software skills * Awareness of applicable CDM Regs requirements * An understanding of the need to work to accepted design processes, procedures, guidance, codes and standards. * A general understanding of common construction specifications. * Soft management skills to encourage designers to provide on time, right first time, solutions.
