An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. Applications are invited for a fixed-term post at ST3+ level for the position of Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, commencing as soon as possible at Basildon Hospital.

The role involves participating in the general functioning of the Directorate, including attendance at clinics, labour ward, ward rounds, and operating sessions. There is also support to develop a special interest, such as EPAU management, Colposcopy, Sub Fertility, Maternity Assessment, Obstetric Ultrasound, Urogynecology, and Minimal Access Surgery.
This department supports the successful candidate in progressing to the Specialist Registrar level through Article 14 and relevant ATSMs.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Demonstrating leadership qualities and knowing limitations to seek help appropriately.
2. Rotating through the region to gain necessary competencies for ST3+ level doctors.
3. Liaising with midwives, nurses, junior doctors, patients, relatives, and senior staff.
4. Managing day cases, outpatient, and inpatient activities.
5. Participating in ward rounds and theatre sessions.
6. Attending outpatient, diagnostic, and pre-assessment clinics.
7. Teaching medical students as directed.
8. Supervising and assisting F2 and ST1-2 doctors during ward rounds and emergencies.
9. Maintaining administrative duties, including correspondence and discharge summaries.
10. Studying for higher examinations and engaging in professional development.
11. Participating in audit projects and educational sessions.
