Job Description: Live-In Nanny /Housekeeper (self-employed role)

About the Role
We are a warm and busy family with a new baby seeking a dedicated, trustworthy, kind, warm and empathetic aswell as reliable, active and enthusiastic Nanny/Housekeeper to join our family in the beautiful Scottish countryside. This is a varied and rewarding live-in position requiring flexibility, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love of children, animals, and countryside living.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting our family by helping to care for our baby, home, and pets, while also possessing good cooking skills to preparing high-quality, nutritious meals. They will become a much appreciated part of our family and be respected and cared for well in return.

Key Responsibilities:
Childcare
* Provide attentive, nurturing, and safe care for our newborn baby.
* Support daily routines, including bathing, feeding, dressing, hygiene care, nappy changing, nappy washing, naptime, playtime and soothing.
* Occasionally work night shifts (with daytime rest provided).
* Assist with baby-related laundry and organisation.
* Support developmental play and interaction as the baby grows.
* sanitising baby toys, babies equipment and books etc and any other associated duties that may arise with having a baby.

Cooking
* Plan and prepare a wide variety of meals to a high standard, using fresh ingredients.
* Maintain excellent hygiene practices in the kitchen at all times.
* Accommodate dietary needs and preferences.
* Manage kitchen organisation, stock rotation, and grocery lists.

Housekeeping
* Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of the whole house to an excellent standard.
* Handle laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care.
* Maintain cleanliness of shared spaces, bathrooms, and bedrooms.
* Assist with organisation, deep cleaning, and seasonal tasks.

Animal Care
* Care for and feed 4 cats, including twice weekly grooming. Pet cleanup essential
* Help to maintain 3 fish tanks sometimes (feeding, water checks, and cleaning as required).
* Daily care for chickens: feeding, collecting eggs, and cleaning out coop sometimes (must use mask and shower and redress after doing this due to germs).
* Provide affection and attention to pets, ensuring their well-being.
Family Support
* Provide occasional support and companionship for the family's elderly relatives.
* Assist with errands, appointments, or light household help as needed for relatives.
Additional Duties
* Plant care, both indoor and garden plants.
* House sitting when the family is away.
* Running errands and shopping as needed.
* Driving for errands, baby appointments, or family needs (driving licence required).
* Flexibility to take on duties not specifically listed.

Requirements
* Previous experience as a nanny/housekeeper in a private household.
* Experience caring for newborns and confidence with infant care. Also experience with children as a whole. Must have a love for children and protect them at all times.
* Excellent cooking ability with knowledge of nutrition and hygiene.
* High standard of housekeeping, laundry, and organisation.
* Genuine love for animals and confidence in pet care (including cats, fish, and poultry).
* Flexibility with working hours, including occasional nights.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Valid driving licence (essential due to countryside location).
* Trustworthy, discreet, and professional.
Ability to follow instructions clearly and take notes of duties carried out, ability to ask questions if things are not clear and ability to order items needed for house and maintain stock and provide receipts (money or household bank card will be used for this)

Preferred Qualifications & Personal Qualities
* previous housekeeper experience
* First Aid and Infant CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
* Formal childcare qualifications (e.g. CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent).
* Previous newborn/infant experience in a private household setting.
* Cat care, poultry care, and/or aquatics experience.
* Sunny, friendly disposition with a respectful, polite, and positive attitude.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine zest for work and willingness to be part of the family's daily life.
