What does our Restructuring Advisory teamdo?
Our core RestructuringAdvisory team work with organisations and their advisers, lenders, trustees andcreditors to prevent, manage and address issues related to financialdifficulty. This may include advice on how to develop an effective turnaroundstrategy. Where this is not possible, it may include realising value andoptimising the outcome of a formal insolvency. More specifically, this cancomprise:
- Monitor emerging financial risks;
- Secure an appropriate funding solution;
- Manage risk by simplifying corporate structure;
- Review defined benefit pension covenant strength;
- Preserve value on distressed real estate projects;
- Navigate an accelerated transaction where appropriate;
- In the event of an insolvency procedure, assisting all stakeholders in understanding and navigating the process;
- Identifying and realising assets for the benefit of an insolvent estate;
- Investigating the conduct of the company prior to insolvency;
- Assisting employees with claims and information relating to and arising from insolvency;
- Liaising with creditors, including secured, preferential and unsecured; and
- Identify and pursue potential claims after contentious insolvency.
Wehave a specialist Restructuring Delivery Team dedicated to increasingefficiency in delivering formal insolvency work. This offers the opportunity tospend several months on each stage of formal insolvencies, therefore increasingconfidence and experience in each element within a short time frame. Thisprovides great exposure to all areas of this work in a structured manner.
Our Special Investigations Restructuring Advisoryteam focus on contentious insolvency and fraud investigations with ademonstrated history of recovering assets from both the UK and overseas.
Our multi-disciplinary team deal withenforcement actions and local and international asset tracing, working withlegal advisers and forensic experts to identify and recover assets and to bringclaims against those accountable for fraud, misfeasance, or breach of duty. Wedeal with cross-border issues, complex litigation and numerous contentiousissues, as well as Liquidations and high-profile bankruptcies.

At RSM, you’ll be a key member of ourteam from day one. You’ll get involved in client work very quickly, initiallyworking as part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility forprojects. Once you’ve completed your initial professional qualifications, thecomplexity of your workload will increase, and you’ll have the opportunity totake on more individual responsibilities and get involved in more challengingissues. Alongside hands-on experience, you’llbenefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gainaccess to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role.With our support, you’ll become a true trusted adviser to your clients in thefuture.
When you join this team, you’ll firstwork towards the CPI qualification (Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency)followed by the AAT qualification with the Association of AccountingTechnicians. You will then have the opportunity to study towards the ACAqualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales(ICAEW), or your Chartered Accountancy (CA) qualification with the Institute ofChartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or with Chartered Accountants Ireland(CAI).

Restructuring Advisory is atechnically demanding discipline, so we look for students who are quick tograsp new subjects. It’s important to have an inquisitive mind and pay closeattention to detail. You’ll often need to review complex financial informationand report on any unusual transactions or patterns which you spot, so you’llneed excellent written and verbal communication skills. What separates us fromour competitors is the financial acumen we demonstrate, and we expect thatright from the start from our people.

112 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or anequivalent level 3 qualification, or 104 UCAS points across 4 ScottishHighers/Advanced Highers or Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level).
