Join us as an AVP within our Legal Supplier Management (LSM) team at Barclays. This team is responsible for all aspects of Barclays engagement with legal vendors including: panel strategy and management; legal instruction processes; financial reporting; temporary resourcing; technology use and innovation; and project management of major matters.
The legal function is accountable for optimising value from the bank’s panel of legal suppliers, and ensuring appropriate cost controls are in place. In 2025, this panel of legal suppliers is subject to a refresh, and the Legal Supplier Manager will work with lawyers, business areas, sourcing, and legal suppliers to deliver this project. They will also actively work on the ongoing operational requirements of the function’s engagement of legal suppliers in accordance with the existing supplier management and control framework.
Key skills required for this role include:
* Advanced skills in the Microsoft suite of products (Excel & PowerPoint in particular).
* Ability to understand data and provide insights and analysis through clear visual, written, and verbal communication.
* Strong communication skills and experience interacting with senior stakeholders.
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize workload.
This role will be based in Glasgow and will be for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Purpose of the role
To manage and monitor supplier risk and performance to meet the requirements of the Barclays Third-party Service provider Policy and Standards, through control execution, commercial management, relationship, and risk management.
Accountabilities
* Management and execution of the supplier control processes, including oversight of suppliers and their performance, monitoring of KPIs to guarantee expectations are met.
* Collaboration with various stakeholder groups to produce deliverables that meet procurement needs, policies, and standards, mitigate supplier risks and issues, and ensure supplier relationships align with the bank’s needs and business strategy.
* Identification of suppliers that will provide the right goods and services through market research, capabilities analysis, and contract negotiation.
* Identification of industry trends and developments related to supplier management tools and techniques by attending conferences and participating in training.
* Monitoring of suppliers’ control operations to meet Barclays Third-party Service provider Management Standards and contractual obligations including quality standards, risk mitigation, and commercial activity.
* Collaboration with regulatory teams to support global regulatory requests, exams, and ongoing activity.
