Joining the operations team at the Scunthorpe Rail and Section Mill offers an exhilarating chance to receive in-depth training and build experience with a premier steel manufacturer. You'll embark on a comprehensive, structured training programme, featuring both practical and theoretical components, designed to enhance your knowledge of manufacturing and develop your personal skills. This foundation prepares you for advancement into Operator roles.
As a valued team member, you'll contribute to achieving production goals within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Upholding the strictest health and safety standards is paramount as you work towards operational excellence.
Your tasks in Manufacturing Operations encompass a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:
* Crane driving (pendant, remote and cab operated overhead)
* Machine / process operation
* Machine / process routine inspections and proactive maintenance
* General material movement (slinging and lifting, Forklift Driving)
* Burning
* Manual Handling
* Control room operating

What we need to know about you
We are in search of individuals who are highly motivated, adaptable, dependable, and brimming with enthusiasm to enrich our dynamic and varied team at the Scunthorpe Rail and Section Mill. The ideal candidates will approach their work with a proactive mindset and a ‘can-do’ attitude, essential for the success of our operations.
Please note that this position involves shift work, including weekends. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to meet the legal requirements for shift work.
Ideal candidates will have attained at least level 4 (grade C) in GCSE Maths and English Language, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications. Basic IT competency is also advantageous.
While it’s preferable for applicants to hold a full and valid driving license (either motorbike or car), those with a provisional license actively working towards a full license may also be considered. This is particularly important as it's a prerequisite for mobile plant training. Experience with mobile plant machinery would be a significant plus.
Successful candidates must be team players with excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a strong ambition to thrive in their roles.
