The Role
We are looking for a Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to deliver compassionate, person‑centred care to patients within our Older People and Stroke Rehabilitation & Assessment services. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will assist registered nurses to ensure patients receive safe, effective and dignified care throughout their hospital journey. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Duration: Permanent
* Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital
* Hours: 35.5 hours (Shift Pattern - Monday–Sunday)
* Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key Responsibilities
* Assist patients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and mobility needs
* Support patients with nutritional and fluid intake as required or prescribed
* Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse
* Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures
* Undertake basic clinical tasks such as urinalysis and specimen collection
* Maintain accurate patient records, including charts and care documentation
* Ensure clinical areas, equipment and supplies are clean, safe and well‑maintained
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education
* Strong verbal communication skills with a caring and respectful approach
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care
* Willingness to learn and develop within a clinical environment
* Understanding of basic health and safety principles in a care setting
* Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision within established procedures
