Director of Learning - Humanities (Geography Specialism)
Location: North West England
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent | Leadership Role
Salary: MPS/UPS (£31,650 to £49,084) + TLR1 (£9,782 per annum)

Aspire People are working on behalf of a forward-thinking secondary school in the North West to recruit a Director of Learning for Humanities, with a specialism in Geography. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious educator to lead a key subject area and play a central role in shaping the direction of the humanities curriculum.
About the Role:
This position is ideal for an experienced middle leader looking to broaden their impact, or for an outstanding classroom teacher ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will lead a team of dedicated humanities teachers, with a particular focus on raising standards in Geography while supporting curriculum development across the wider humanities department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategic direction and development of the Humanities faculty.
- Raising achievement and progress in Geography at both KS3 and KS4.
- Supporting teaching and learning across History, RE, and related subjects.
- Developing engaging and inclusive schemes of work.
- Mentoring and supporting colleagues within the department.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
Candidate Profile:
We're looking for an individual who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Geography or a related subject.
- Has a strong track record of delivering high-quality teaching and achieving positive outcomes.
- Possesses leadership experience or demonstrates clear potential for middle leadership.
- Is passionate about curriculum innovation, student engagement, and staff development.
- Can build strong professional relationships and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture.
