Overview
Join to apply for the Tesco Shift Leader - Nights - Hull role at Tesco. Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. For all hours worked between midnight and 6am you will receive an additional night premium of £2.35 per hour worked. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with options to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) if requested.

The role involves overseeing store operations from the shop floor, helping customers, and leading the in-store team to maintain a smooth, customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Lead duty shifts, coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store
* Assist customers and ensure they leave with what they came for
* Coach colleagues and provide feedback to improve service
* Guide and support colleagues, maintaining a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist managers in executing actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example
* Be the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Ensure the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented
Availability & Schedule
The availability windows show the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work. You’ll be scheduled within these times and receive 3 weeks notice of shifts. We aim to support flexibility if your availability is close to, but not exactly, the advertised times.
Requirements
* Must be 18 or over
* Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a retail setting is desirable
You will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
* Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks
* Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover with safety in mind
* Being the point of contact for colleagues in the absence of a manager
* Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented store
* Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events
* Contributing to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere
* Providing excellent customer service by listening to customers
* Keeping the team informed of communications, changes, or updates
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and seeking improvements
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues who provide great service
