Role Summary
Positioned within Slough Borough Council’s Recovery Programme, this role supports the delivery of the Council’s strategic recovery objectives through the identification of service improvement opportunities, efficiency measures, and leadership of key projects aligned with the Target Operating Model (TOM).
Working proactively across the organisation, the postholder will apply the Council’s design principles—preventing and reducing demand through customer and community enablement, automation, improved service access, early issue resolution, and streamlined processes supported by common technology and roles.
The role will assist operational leads in redesigning end-to-end processes, enhancing customer journeys, enabling digital self-service, improving data use, and achieving measurable efficiencies. Promoting a “One Council” approach will be essential to ensure cross-functional alignment.
Strategy
* Support Recovery Programme Managers in developing and delivering strategic recovery projects.
* Plan, develop and deliver projects that achieve the aims of the Corporate Plan.
* Collaborate with service areas and partners to produce robust, commercially minded business cases that deliver sustainable outcomes for residents.
Corporate Working
* Lead multi-disciplinary teams across services and organisations to achieve shared goals.
* Provide transparent project reporting against key recovery and corporate metrics.
* Foster effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Project Leadership and Delivery
* Define, manage and complete projects aligned with Council objectives and governance standards.
* Apply best practice tools and techniques to support the Corporate Plan.
* Oversee project risk, issue management, and governance to ensure integrity and delivery assurance.
Resource Management
* Work collaboratively across the Council to achieve best value outcomes for residents and businesses.
* Lead and develop project teams to build professional capability and deliver results.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
* Maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the Council’s transformation and recovery goals.
