Trainee Health and Wellbeing Practitioner: HMP Send
Location: Woking, Surrey
Salary: GBP 22,932 per annum + Benefits
We are recruiting for a Trainee Health and Wellbeing Practitioner at HMP Send.
The Forward Trust provides both clinical and psychosocial Substance Misuse Services across Surrey Prisons in partnership with NHS Trust healthcare providers. Each service operates a Health and Wellbeing framework that adopts a trauma-informed and gender-responsive approach, delivering a wide variety of interventions and integrated pathways tailored to meet the specific needs of each prison and individual service users. Collaborative partnership working across mental health, healthcare services, and the prison is essential.
Role Responsibilities
As a Forward Trust trainee, you will be employed on a fixed 12-month contract. The traineeship aims to provide training and development opportunities to facilitate onward employment. Forward Trust seeks to recruit individuals with lived experience where possible. During the traineeship, you will be supported and given opportunities to develop skills and experience to transition into a permanent role at its conclusion. All trainees will be enrolled in an accredited training program funded by The Forward Trust and invited to join the Forward Connect community.
You will be assigned to a specific service unit within the organization, such as Prison Drug and Alcohol Services, Community Drug and Alcohol Services, Family Support, Recovery Resettlement, Housing Resettlement, Business Development, or Central Services.
During the traineeship, you will shadow a team member and receive guidance and support to develop competence in your role. Regular reviews will ensure you stay on track to successfully complete the traineeship and undertake the necessary therapy components. Part of your traineeship will involve working practically and studying towards an assigned qualification, subject to eligibility criteria.
The service operates 7 days a week; therefore, weekend working on a rota basis is required.
All prison-based roles require enhanced DBS and HMPPS security vetting, which can take up to 3-6 weeks. Offers are contingent upon receiving both clearances.
Checks will include personal, family, co-residents, associations, police, credit, social media, and other government or overseas agency checks.
