Job summary
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and providing general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties include greeting and directing patients, managing the appointment system, booking appointments, processing information, and assisting patients as needed. Acts as the central contact point for patients, distributing information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Main duties of the job
The core responsibilities of the receptionist include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.
2. Processing personal, telephone, and e-requests for appointments.
3. Answering incoming calls, transferring calls, or managing requests appropriately.
4. Signposting patients to the correct services.
5. Initiating contact and responding to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies.
6. Reading code data on Systmone.
7. Photocopying documentation as required.
8. Providing administrative support for GPs and Nurses.

We are a premises-owning, six-Partner training practice with a growing list size of around 14,368. Our team includes one Salaried GP, two Advanced Care Practitioners, two Nurse Practitioners, three Practice Nurses, one Nursing Associate, and two Healthcare Assistants. We also have a strong administrative team supporting clinical services.
Patients can access additional roles such as Social Prescribers, Mental Health Workers, Physician Associates, and First Contact Practitioners through BYTES Primary Care Network.
We are a teaching and training practice, providing placements for students and training medical, nursing, and allied health students, as well as GP Registrars.
