 
        Our Water contractor client are seeking a Head of Design on a permanent basis to support Wastewater projects across the Southern Water region as they move into the AMP8 funding cycle. The role will oversee design of water supply and wastewater treatment works across Kent and Sussex. The role will require a presence across the region but ideally based out of Falmer (Brighton offices). As a key member of the Regional Design Leadership Team, the Head of Design Delivery for Wastewater will be accountable for time, cost and quality of design production during the detail design phase and construction/commissioning support phase of our AMP8 Wastewater projects. The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with extensive Design and Build experience in Wastewater ideally with strong technical capability directing teams on constructability matters. The candidate will also have exceptional communication skills and a 'hands on' approach to supporting integrated Design and Delivery Teams resolving design challenges encountered during the construction phase. Key responsibilities Leading a team of design managers and discipline design engineers in the detail design and construction/commissioning phase of projects. Ensure safe and constructable design solutions are delivered within authorised sums. Establish collaborative working relationships with the client, design teams, construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs. Ensure design solutions meet the requirements of governance procedures. Agree design budgets, monitor performance against the budget and provide forecast costs to completion for individual projects. Ensure Design Teams record, monitor and control design changes to maximise cost efficiency. Ensure Design Team are delivering in line with the Design Management Plan / Project Execution Plan Report on design progress and escalation matters at Monthly Project Reviews Coordinate both internal and Client Site Conformity Inspections across the Wastewater programme. Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.Skills/experience/qualifications Experience of technical project delivery in a design-build environment A successful track record of managing constructability in design Experience in the Water Treatment Industry - wastewater experience is essential Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary design teams Must be delivery-driven with the ability to set targets, manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives Technical and management skills Able to identify and manage project/programme risk Able to identify and manage changes to project scope Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline Experience of working in Joint Ventures an advantage Experience of offsite manufactured design solutions Benefits Package circa £80-100k based on experience level and interview process Excellent company car allowance Competitive pension Private medical Company bonus
