Community Children’s Nurse Clinical Educator
Band 6 – 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the role
* Develop and deliver programmes of training and education for members of the CYP Community Nursing Service, students, both undergraduate and postgraduate undertaking placements with the service, and external agencies including the voluntary sector and staff in education and early year settings.
* Act professionally, developing the role of registered and non‑registered nursing staff in the best interests of the CYP and the nursing profession in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct.
* Maintain an identifiable clinical presence and undertake relevant clinical activities to maintain own clinical competency and therefore be able to support and guide staff in developing their own clinical practice.
* Ensure that evidence‑based practice is developed and implemented to improve patient care and contribute to the updating and the clinical content of the Coventry and Warwickshire Children and Young Peoples Competency Framework.
* Act as sign‑off mentor for pre‑registration student children’s nurses.
* Act as a preceptor to newly registered nurses working in the service.
* Participate in the service on‑call rotas including supporting end‑of‑life care.
* Mentor and supervise junior staff and carers.
* Lead author for clinical policies and procedures.
Job responsibilities
* Car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job, prepared to be insured for business use.
* Responsible for carer or parental training for resuscitation and basic life support.
* Must be able to contribute to a service provided 24/7, including weekends and bank holidays if required.
* Must be able to participate in the 24‑hour telephone on‑call including involvement in end‑of‑life on‑call.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Children's nurse registration held with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or adult/learning disability nurse with significant experience working with children with complex physical health needs.
* Resuscitation Train the Trainer qualification or willingness to undertake; ability to provide basic life support/resuscitation training for parents, carers and families.
* Evidence of healthcare related teaching qualification.
* PG certificate or willingness to work towards.
Knowledge & Skills
* High standard of communication skills with the multi‑agency team.
* Good working knowledge of safeguarding processes for both adults and children.
* Experience of working with CYP requiring long‑term ventilation.
* Extensive experience of working with CYP with complex physical health needs.
* Significant experience of clinical training and teaching in a variety of settings.
* Community children's nursing experience.
* Experience of children's palliative care.
