Overview
In this role you’ll help assure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the £1bn portfolio of capital investment projects across Wales and Western. These projects are delivered 24/7/365 and include some of the biggest infrastructure schemes in the UK. They support the operation, renewal, development and enhancement of the railway network to benefit passengers and freight users.
Your role and responsibilities
As an environment specialist you will provide project teams and supply partners with sustainability support, guidance, assurance and reporting. You will have a specific interest around carbon and will lead on shaping and delivering our plan, including identifying and sharing best practice. You will work closely with senior leaders, project teams, our supply partners and regional colleagues. The postholder will be expected to work 3 days a week in Network Rail offices or supply partner site offices.

Requirements
Essential
* Good understanding of UK and European environmental legislation and regulation.
* Good understanding of environmental management systems.
* Knowledge of maintenance delivery processes and techniques.
* Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisational skills.
* Hold a full driving licence for at least one year.
Desirable
* Understanding of sustainability reporting standards and regulatory frameworks.
* Knowledge of circular economy principles.
* Carbon experience, ideally whole life carbon assessment processes aligned to PAS 2080; ability to track and interpret KPI data.
* Proficiency in SharePoint and PowerBI.
What Could Set You Apart
* Knowledge of the operational railway environment.
* Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard.
* Membership of a professional body.

Salary: £35,582 to £42,218 per annum.
