We are seeking a highly capable and resilient Deputy Head of Healthcare to play a key role in the overall delivery of healthcare services within a secure custodial environment. This senior position will be based at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster, with a capacity of approximately 550 inmates and plans to expand by an additional 250.
About the Role
As Deputy Head of Healthcare you will manage clinical leads across primary care, mental health and substance misuse pathways, supporting the Head of Healthcare and overseeing operational delivery, continuous service review, and achievement of NHS England contractual standards.
Hours
Shifts are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00, 37.5 hours per week.
Salary
Full‑time position with an annual salary of £53,000 – £58,000.

Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Head of Healthcare and senior team to deliver high‑quality patient care
* Support all service pathways – mental health, primary care and substance misuse
* Act as deputy for the Head of Healthcare when required
* Manage day‑to‑day operations of the service
* Continuously review and improve service standards and processes
Qualifications
o Current professional registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC)
o Previous experience in a prison or secure setting (preferred)
o Proactive, driven with an appetite for change
o Inclusive leadership and culture of continuous progress
o Experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams
o Ability to influence and deliver information to partners and stakeholders
o Budget management experience
o Legal right to work in the UK
