Consultant in Radiology – Specialist Interest in Head & Neck Radiology
Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Head & Neck Radiology. The post is a full‑time position with the option to work part time and includes participation in evening and weekend duties and on‑call rota.
Job Overview
* Replacement post for a retiring Consultant, covering 10 specialist posts.
* Requires skills in cross‑sectional imaging applicable to a general department.
* Involves subspecialty imaging, cross‑sectional emergency work (outsourced 2000‑7 days), and collaboration with the regional Head & Neck cancer service.
Main Duties
The candidate will be expected to:
* Provide diagnostic imaging and clinical advice in Head & Neck and ENT/Max‑Fax radiology.
* Contribute to and advance the Head & Neck/ENT service and link with the regional Head & Neck cancer service.
* Support Neuroradiology by contributing to acute and elective protocols, participating in meetings with neurologists and stroke physicians.
* Support multidisciplinary teaching and subspecialty training.
* Participate in departmental audit, research and quality improvement projects.
* Execute management and administration duties such as audit process, appraisal, Clinical Governance, confidentiality and data protection.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* GMC recognised general medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* FRCR.
* On the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
Person Specification – Skills & Experience
* Fully accredited clinical radiologist on the GMC specialist register.
* Head and Neck/ENT Radiology subspecialty training.
* Current general radiological practice suitable for a district general hospital.
* Motivation to contribute to general and specialised work and maintain high personal development standards.
* Experience of dental radiology (desirable).
* Second specialty interest (Neuroradiology preferred – desirable).
* Teaching experience with undergraduates and junior colleagues (desirable).
* Research interest and experience – audit and postgraduate research organisation (desirable).
* Proficiency in audit, appraisal, Clinical Governance, data protection (essential).

* Effective verbal and written communication tailored to the audience.
