Head of Subsurface - Developments and Production
We are seeking an experienced Subsurface Development Manager with a strong background in reservoir engineering to oversee and optimize the production and development of Prax’s fields. The successful candidate will manage subsurface activities, optimize reservoir performance, and lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal delivery from existing fields and develop near-field opportunities.
Accountabilities:
1. Lead the subsurface development strategy to maximize gas recovery and field performance in the Greater Laggan Area.
2. Monitor reservoir performance, analyze production data, and recommend offtake strategies and interventions.
3. Oversee reservoir characterization, modeling, and simulation studies to guide development plans.
4. Define and optimize well placement, drilling schedules, and completion strategies for infill or near-field opportunities.
5. Implement enhanced recovery techniques and depletion strategies to improve efficiency.
Technical Leadership & Project Management:
1. Lead multidisciplinary teams including geoscientists, production engineers, and petrophysicists to integrate reservoir insights into field development.
2. Coordinate with drilling, production, and facilities teams to align subsurface plans with surface infrastructure.
3. Evaluate and recommend investments for new wells, workovers, and facility expansions.
4. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for subsurface uncertainties.
5. Provide oversight on reservoir studies, reserves estimation, and development planning.
Stakeholder Engagement & Regulatory Compliance:
1. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including JV partners and regulators, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
2. Prepare and present development proposals, technical reviews, and investment justifications.
3. Ensure adherence to HSE policies in all operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's or Master’s in Petroleum or Reservoir Engineering or related field.
* 15+ years in reservoir engineering, with at least 5 in gas field development, production optimization, and leading integrated teams.
* Proven leadership and influence across multidisciplinary teams.
* Expertise in reservoir simulation, well performance analysis, and field development planning.
* Experience with gas reservoirs, depletion strategies, pressure maintenance, and optimization.
* Proficiency in industry-standard software (Eclipse, Petrel, MBAL, Prosper).
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Knowledge of UK regulatory regime.
