Job Description
New Directions Education are currently recruiting a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in primary and secondary schools across Chester. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupil progress and are confident leading learning in the absence of the class teacher.
Due to the specifics of this role, candidates must be able to commit to 3 or more days per week.
The Role:
• Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Leading small group interventions to support pupil progress
• Providing targeted 1:1 support where required
• Supporting teaching and learning across a range of year groups
• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies
• Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
• Working closely with class teachers and senior leaders
• Assisting with assessment, monitoring, and feedback
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• HLTA status or a relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Previous experience working within a school setting
• Confidence in leading whole-class learning
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A proactive, flexible, and professional approach
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
